Ashlie H. Eckert grew up in a small canal town in Northeast Pennsylvania, where she was the youngest of three girls and daughter to high school sweethearts and the town Homecoming Queen. Always striving to meet her family s expectations, she was a rigorous student-athlete and friend to an irreplaceable crew of childhood companions. Struck by her father s untimely death at age eleven, she had a choice to make.
