A classic early tale of the Spider-Verse inspired by manga!

The world-famous wall-crawler gets a manga makeover! When his uncle -- Benjamin-sensei, the leader of the Spider-Clan -- was murdered in cold blood by Venom himself, young Peter Parker became the last surviving Spider-Ninja. Having been trained in the martial arts since birth, Peter choses to emerge from the shadows and take his crimefighting public. But to protect his identity and the lives of the people he loves, he decides to wear a mask to hide his face. Mild-mannered Peter just never expected the great lengths he would have to go to in order to keep his alter ego as the high-flying costumed hero Spider-Man hidden from his Aunt May and his girlfriend, Mary Jane. It's hard enough being a teenager by day -- being a clandestine super-hero ninja at night is another story! Plus: When Peter is attacked at Ben's grave site, he goes on a quest to uncover the truth behind his origins -- and he won't like what he learns!

About the Author
Canadian artist Kaare Andrews has made a name for himself in the comics industry as both a writer and a stylistically flexible illustrator, working with pencils, inks, paints and computer graphics. Born in Manitoba and raised in Saskatchewan, he attended school in Alberta and later moved to British Columbia. Hooked on comics in his early childhood by titles such as Marvel's G.I. Joe and X-Men, Andrews embarked on a lifelong quest to become a comics professional. He started with independent comics before moving up to larger publishers such as Image, Wildstorm and Marvel. At Marvel, his credits have included Before the Fantastic Four: Ben Grimm and Logan, Black Panther, Gambit, Marvel Knights Millennial Visions, Marvel Mangaverse: Spider-Man, Spider-Man/Doctor Octopus: Year One, Spider-Man: Legend of the Spider-Clan, Spider-Man's Tangled Web, Thor, Ultimate X-Men, Wolverine and X-Men Unlimited. His other projects have included Gen 13 and Thundercats/Battle of the Planets. A Joe Shuster Award winner and an Eisner Award nominee, Andrews has also worked in album design and film direction.

As an editor at Marvel Comics, C.B. Cebulski helped shepherd the Mangaverse and Ultimate Universe lines. As a writer, his credits include several creator-owned comics, the autobiographical Wonderlost, Marvel's Loners and Image's Compass.

Skottie Young has worked in both comics and animation for Warner Bros., Universal, Spike TV, Mattel, Fisher Price, Marvel, Dark Horse, Image and more. His distinctively stylized artwork graced runs on Human Torch, Venom, Spider-Man: Legend of the Spider-Clan and a revamp of New Warriors. He also drew the X-Men/Runaways team-up for Free Comic Book Day 2006 and a run of New X-Men. Young won acclaim from fans and critics alike with Marvel's series of New York Times-bestselling and Eisner Award-winning adaptations of L. Frank Baum's Oz novels with writer Eric Shanower. His Young Marvel variant covers became a sensation, leading to their own Secret Wars limited series, Giant-Size Little Marvel: AVX. Also a flourishing writer, Young brought his flair for madcap antics delivered in his trademark kinetic style to Marvel's Rocket Raccoon and Deadpool, as well as acclaimed creator-owned series I Hate Fairyland, Middlewest and The Me You Love In The Dark. He lives in Kansas with his wife, two sons, and two dogs.
