The Amazing Spider-Man swung into newsprint on Monday, January 3, 1977! The web-slinger's daily strip brought Marvel's most popular hero from comic pages to newspapers worldwide. Through Stan Lee's storytelling and John Romita's masterful art, the strip delivered dramatic storylines that pitted Spidey against classic foes while introducing brand new characters. In doing so, the strip helped make Spider-Man a household name beyond the comic book stands.

1980 begins with Peter Parker in the midst of a crisis of conscience as he gives up his life as Spider-Man! When Aunt May's life is threatened, he must find a way to save her without his costume. The challenges keep coming as the Kingpin is released from prison and clashes with Spidey once more, and a new adversary emerges in the form of the Protector!

This series collects the strip strictly by year, reprinting each installment from January 1 to December 31. Each volume measures 11" x 8.5" in a horizontal format. Additionally, each book slides into a vertical slipcase, designed for protection and easy shelving.

Stan "The Man" Lee co-created of majority of the most well-known Marvel super heroes. His pulse-pounding stories and bombastic dialogue set him apart from other writers. In later years, he became the "King of Cameos," appearing in nearly every blockbuster Marvel feature film!

John Romita began illustrating Amazing Spider-Man comics after the departure of Steve Ditko, breathing new life into the character in a way that permeated through every other Marvel title. His style was adopted as the Marvel house style. His son, John Romita, Jr., continues his father's legacy as Spider-Man artist to this day.
