The First Peoples

Based on an ancient Inuit traditional story, this beautifully illustrated picture book tells of the appearance of the first humans on earth, and how from them all the peoples of the earth emerged. Retold with loving care by Inuit author and actress Maika Harper, The First Peoples is both mythical and magical, an ancient tale brought to life for new generations.

Maika Harper is a Canadian actress and model born and raised in the Arctic. She briefly studied classical theatre in the BFA program at the University of Windsor before starring in APTN's hit dramatic comedy Mohawk Girls as Anna. She has also made appearances in Kim's Convenience as Michaela, Burden of Truth and Law and Order: Toronto. Her most recent show, North of North, will be available to stream on Netflix early next year.

Kaja Kajfez was born in the small but charming city of Varazdin, Croatia in 1992. She developed a love of drawing as child and later invested in a graphics tablet that steered her work into the digital realm. Kaja's artistic passion together with her interest in computer technology led her to obtaining a degree in Multimedia, Design, and Application at the University North in Croatia. During her college years, she began freelance work and was eventually able to establish her own studio that specializes in illustration, lettering, and surface pattern design. Besides doing her dream job, she loves to take long walks in nature, explore different historical periods, flip through old picture books, listen to online concerts, and spend time with her dog.
