The Happy House

In this story of friendship, now in paperback, there once was a house who was unhappy because its paint was peeling, the stairs were dirty, the roof leaked, and there were no flowers to decorate the windowsills. But what has made the house unhappy the most are the people who live in the house--they are loud at all hours of the day and night, with no consideration of each other. Can they all find a way to live happily together? This unique story introduces young readers to the themes of friendship, cooperation, and acceptance through likeable characters and relatable situations.

Elena Feldman is a poet, writer, and literary translator of five European languages. She graduated from the Literature Institute named after Maxim Gorky as a literary translator from English, and was a student of the famous Viktor Golyshev. Elena has a Ph.D. in philology; her thesis was devoted to Mary Cicely Barker's poems for children in the context of English literature of the first half of the twentieth century. She is a participant of diverse seminars and forums for writers and the winner of numerous awards.

Irina Avgustinovich is a Belorussian artist and illustrator. She graduated from the College of Fine Arts and Painting Academy. Her field of expertise was academic painting, ceramics, and applied arts. She illustrates books for children and works with numerous Russian publishers. Irina's illustrations are included in the anthology of 222 Best Russian Artists.
