Awaken to the absurd and haunting world of Franz Kafka with this striking deluxe edition of The Metamorphosis.

One of the most iconic works of twentieth-century literature, The Metamorphosis tells the surreal and unsettling story of Gregor Samsa, a traveling salesman who wakes one morning to find himself transformed into a monstrous insect. As Gregor struggles with his new form, his alienation deepens--not just from society, but from his own family. A masterful exploration of identity, isolation, and the human condition, Kafka's novella continues to captivate readers with its powerful allegory and dark wit.

Bound in a beautifully designed heat-stamped vegan leather cover with foil accents, this edition is a stunning tribute to Kafka's dark masterpiece and a compelling addition to any classic literature collection.

The Metamorphosis remains a profoundly relevant and chilling meditation on modern life. Elegant and thought-provoking, this handsome edition preserves one of literature's most enigmatic masterpieces for generations to come.

Essential volumes for the shelves of every classic literature lover, these deluxe classics editions include beautifully presented works from some of the most important authors in literary history. Other Chartwell Deluxe Editions include Little Women, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, The Essential Tales and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe, Anne of Green Gables, The Inferno, Dracula, The Republic, The Iliad, Meditations, and Irish Fairy and Folk Tales.

About the Author

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) was born in Prague, then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. He studied law at the University of Prague and went on to work at an insurance company, balancing his career with his writing. Much of his fiction explores themes of alienation, anxiety, and the absurdity of modern life. His best-known works include The Metamorphosis, The Trial, and The Castle. Although little of his work was published during his lifetime, Kafka's influence on twentieth-century literature has been profound, and he is now regarded as one of the most important writers of the modern era.
