About the Author

Dr. David L. Snead is a nationally recognized educator and former Superintendent of Schools in Detroit, MI, and Waterbury, CT. With over 40 years in education, he led major district reforms, raised academic achievement, and championed equity-driven initiatives. A graduate of Tuskegee University and the University of Michigan, Dr. Snead has earned numerous national honors, including Michigan Superintendent of the Year and IBM's Executive Educator of the Year. He has also served as an Advisor to the Yale Child Study Program, and as an Adjunct Professor in Education Leadership at Southern Connecticut University in New Haven, CT. Guided by the belief that all students can learn at their own pace, Dr. Snead continues to inspire educators through his leadership, experience, and unwavering commitment to student success.

About the Book

He walked into classrooms where hope was fading, and refused to walk out.

From Detroit's toughest neighborhoods to the superintendent's office, Dr. David L. Snead has spent a lifetime fighting for fairness, discipline, and dignity in America's public schools. Urban School Warrior pulls back the curtain on the victories, politics, and heartbreak behind urban education, and the unshakable belief that leadership can still change lives.

Shaped by his years at Tuskegee University and forged through decades of service, Dr. Snead's story is a blueprint for resilience. It's part memoir, part masterclass in courage, showing what it takes to lead with purpose when the odds say you shouldn't.

This isn't just one man's story, it's a call to every educator, leader, and fighter who refuses to give up on their community.
